On 27 and 28 of September 2023, our partner the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic has presented the ODYSSEUS project during the “EU Borders Security: Acting Ahead across Research, Practice and Policy” conference organized by the MEDEA network in Madrid, Spain at Isdefe Headquarters in a building equipped with the latest technological gears and a sustainable and energy-efficient infrastructure.

This two-day conference, which was held during Spain’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, aimed to draw attention to some of the most important aspects of this challenge, evaluate what has been achieved so far and map the future.

Amongst the attendees were government officials, researchers, industry experts, technical managers, and stakeholders in European security and defense from European countries such as Spain, Romania, Greece, Cyprus and Portugal.

The workshop started with a welcome speech by the Head of Innovation of Isdefe, who introduced the idea and purpose of the event, the organisational structure of Isdefe and the basic safety rules of the workshop. Following that, a keynote address and an overview of the conference’s primary goals were given. Afterwards, the main objectives and activities of MEDEA were presented: scenario-based assessment of emerging threats, co-operation of innovation, continuous collaboration amongst practitioners, and innovation evaluation and assessment.

The ODYSSEUS project key aspects and solutions were presented by the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic during the event. Promotional leaflets were also distributed strengthening the visibility of the project and raising awareness of the useful solutions it aims to offer in the border control management.
