National Unit Combating Illegal Migration is an operational, coordination and conceptual service of the Border and Foreign Police Bureau of the Police Force in the fight against illegal migration, human smuggling, trafficking in human beings and other cross-border crime covering the whole territory of the Slovak Republic, as the only in terms of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic.
Role in ODYSSEUS project
Pilot at the Land Border Demonstrating the seamless border crossing offered by the ODYSSEUS framework in a real setting both in terms of identity verification but also in terms of detecting illegal migrants, goods, materials, explosive and narcotics. For the security aspect, specifically designed scenarios will be tested by the experts – police officers, where the ODYSSEUS system will be challenged with respect to the identity verification and the screening of the vehicles/luggage – priority will be given to the most common security detection scenarios provided by the Border Authorities – in order to understand the accuracy of the system in terms of false positives and false negatives.
