The Security Research Event 2025 took place on 24 & 25 June 2025 in Warsaw, Poland, focusing on fostering security innovation in Europe.
The event was organized by the European Commission’s Directorate for Migration and Home Affairs and brought together 1,000 participants, including policymakers, security practitioners, researchers, industry representatives, and civil society members. This event served as a platform for discussing the latest developments in security research and innovation (R&I) and addressing key security challenges facing Europe today.
The key theme in 2025 was the importance of security innovation in response to global challenges, including organised crime and technological advancements in civil security.
Various panels were organised during the two-day event discussing:
Future technologies for border management
Robust supply chains for critical infrastructure
Solutions for combating crime and terrorism
The participants had the opportunity to visit more than 50 booths of different projects funded by the European Commission, from the areas of Border Management, Fighting Crime and Terrorism, Critical Infrastructure, and others.
Institutional bodies such as the European Commission, the Research Executive Agency, and Justice and Home Affairs Agencies were present, as well as agencies such as Frontex, eu-LISA, and CEPOL.
The ODYSSEUS project had a booth at this prestigious event and was represented by:

Visitors of the ODYSSEUS booth had the opportunity to see live demonstrations of digital travel credentials issuance and facial recognition – innovative solutions for seamless border crossing.
Demonstrations of these technologies were also performed for DG HOME and for Frontex representatives. Alongside the demonstrations, the team distributed flyers, presented the ODYSSEUS project overview, and exhibited a poster to raise awareness of the project’s objectives and achievements.
Discussions were held with sister projects such as I-SEAMORE, FLEXI-Cross, and TENSOR, but also with other projects like SAFE-Travelers and METEOR.
