The 5th International Conference in Electronic Engineering, Information Technology & Education (EEITE’2024) took place in Chania, Crete, Greece on May 31, 2024, marking a significant milestone in border security technologies.

Quadible gave an informative paper presentation at the conference with the title “Seamless Identity Verification at Water and Land Borders.” This presentation highlighted the innovative approaches of ODYSSEUS that transform the way borders are controlled for people, cars, and goods.

The presentation addressed one of the major issues the present border security is facing by showcasing cutting-edge methods for seamless identity verification. Among the alternatives that were proposed were solutions allowing border guards to verify travellers’ identities without stopping vehicles, integrating secure digital passports compliant with EU regulations, and applying biometrics and behavioural authentication methods. These advancements greatly enhance identity checks’ effectiveness and accuracy, cutting down on lines and improving the whole border crossing experience.

Additionally, the presentation demonstrated how to identify illicit products and modifications without interfering with traffic flow by using unobtrusive vehicle scanning technologies. Combining strong security measures with privacy concerns, the system’s capacity counts and identifies people inside cars without relying on facial features complying strictly with GDPR regulations.

The knowledge and ideas exchanged at EEITE’2024 will be crucial in shaping border security in the future by emphasising how cutting-edge technology may result in more effective and safe border crossings.

The event proved to be an illustration of the revolutionary potential that information technology and electronic engineering breakthroughs have, especially when it comes to border control.
