ODYSSEUS was one of the organisers of the FCT and BM Synergy Workshop, alongside with projects TENSOR, FLEXI-Cross, EITHOS & ODYSSEUS. Held on March 12, 2024, this virtual gathering delved into the intricate interplay between Fighting Crime and Terrorism (FCT) and Border Management (BM) Horizon calls.
At the heart of discussions were cutting-edge technologies, such as AI and biometric features, as well as strategic approaches to their utilization and the ethical considerations surrounding them.
SIMAVI, provided a comprehensive overview of the ODYSSEUS project. Meanwhile, VISB elaborated on the project’s technological milestones, notably highlighting the integration of AI to streamline EU border crossings across land, water, and rail. VISB, delved into ODYSSEUS’s exploitable outcomes and outlined the consortium’s strategy for leveraging them. ISIG, shed light on the ethical framework guiding ODYSSEUS activities, ensuring alignment with EU ethical principles and emerging AI regulations.
The workshop’s outcome spurred the formation of a project group tasked with identifying and exploring synergies among the aforementioned initiatives, fostering collaboration and innovation in the realm of border security and crime prevention.
