On 11 December 2024, the ODYSSEUS project hosted a technical webinar titled “New Solutions in Border Management”. The event brought together representatives from four EU-funded projects – ODYSSEUS, I-SEAMORE, FLEXI-Cross, and BAG-INTEL to explore innovative approaches to secure and seamless border management.
The session highlighted key advancements in border control technologies, including:
- AI-driven risk assessment tools,
- Multi-modal biometric systems,
- Virtual passports, and
- UAV-assisted vehicle scanning.
The ODYSSEUS presentation, delivered by Iacob Crucianu, Technical Leader at SIMAVI, emphasised the project’s commitment to unobtrusive and efficient solutions designed to modernise border crossing processes. These technologies aim to address contemporary challenges, improve operational efficiency, and enhance traveller experience, all while ensuring compliance with EU standards.
The webinar was attended by 33 participants from the scientific community, industry, technology partners, stakeholders, representatives of EC and Frontex and national authorities. This international audience reflected the wide-ranging interest in the innovative solutions showcased during the event.
